Waitakere Dam Safety Valve Compensation Flow

Upgrade of a local dam reservoir to meet resource consent requirements and Dam Safety Watch recommendations. The upgrade included the design of replacement dam pipework providing an emergency discharge and compensation flows.

Our responsibilities included:

• Leading the design of the Waitakere Dam upgrade (project value NZ$10 million) to refurbish existing dam outlet penstocks and provide emergency discharge and compensation flows.
• Preparation of contracts and placement of orders for the pre-purchase of all piping materials including a large diameter cone valve on behalf of the client.
• Leading the client process to establish applicable standards for future equivalent schemes.
• Engineering support to the site supervision and commissioning team during construction.
